A Bit About Me
My name is Ian Sharp and I am an instructional designer and paramedic. This page is designed to present my educational philosophy and teaching methods to future employers, students, and colleagues. Over the past 10 years I have been responsible for teaching hands-on skills, lecturing, coordinating instructors, designing classes, and shaping curriculum. I have a passion for education, and I am skilled in instructional design and e-learning development. I have extensive experience working with adult learners at the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care, community colleges, and other institutions.
I believe that instruction should be structured to meet the objectives of each course, while flexible enough to incorporate learner-centered activities. Once learners master fundamental skills, the best way for them to expand their abilities is through experiential learning. I have the ability to create adaptable learning environments for today’s unique learners, building their confidence through interactive learning activities. During my time in a leadership role, I learned to work with learners of all ages, races, and socioeconomic levels. In any learning environment, it is important to be able to understand and accommodate the needs of all learners.
